Ask your host about check-in, talk through a menu or get directions from someone who knows the neighbourhood. Choose both languages in Convo and take turns speaking. Read the translated replies or turn on spoken output, so you can keep the conversation going from one phone.

For a conversation, choose both languages. To follow someone speaking, choose Auto and the language you want to read.

Tap Start and say something

Allow microphone access when asked. Try “Hello, how are you?” and give Oye a moment to hear the sentence. Keep the app open while translating.

Follow the translated text, turn on voice to hear it aloud, or split the screen so each person has a side. Tap Stop when you’re done.

What is Oye Convo?

Oye Convo (oye.convo) is a live speech translation app for iPhone and Android. It supports 60 languages, with translated text, spoken output, chat view and a split screen for face-to-face conversations.

What’s the difference between Convo and Listen?

Use Convo for a two-way conversation between people speaking different languages. Use Listen with Auto to follow speech in your chosen language, such as during a tour or class. Both are in the same mobile app.

Do we both need the app?

No. For an in-person conversation, one phone can serve both people. Split the screen and flip the upper half so the person opposite you can read comfortably.

Is Oye Convo free?

You can start with a one-time 15-minute trial. After that, translation requires purchased hours or a monthly plan. One-time packs contain 1–10 hours and don’t expire; monthly allowances reset at renewal.

Does it work offline?

No. Oye Convo needs an internet connection and microphone access for live speech translation. Tap Start, then speak close enough for your phone to hear you.

Can I read a conversation again?

Yes. Saved conversations remain accessible without an active plan. You can return to your transcripts after the conversation.

Is Oye Convo the same as Oye Live?

They are separate products. Oye Convo is the mobile app for personal conversations and listening. For events, meetups and group gatherings, explore Oye Live at web.oye.live.
